It cannot have escaped your attention today is New Year’s eve which means tonight is the biggest party of the year, or is that next year? So if you’re still not sure where t go here are some reminders for celebrating a Gay New Year in Chiang Mai.

Soho bar and Guest House’s New Years Eve party will have traditional New Years food, with fireworks. The fireworks are ready, the ham is in the oven, the bells and whistles are on standby, the hats are waiting to be worn. This New Year Soho will pull out all of the stops. Food will be served at 7:PM bells and whistles to count down to midnight, champaigne and fireworks at midnight. Get down to Soho and party with Shauna and Krathai.

Merry Christmas and seasons greetings to all our readers. Whatever you are doing, and whether you celebrate Christmas or not, we hope you have a great day.

For those in Chiang Mai not stuffing yourselves with Turkey somewhere, why not pop along to Radchada Garden Café and join in their “it’s not Christmas” Barbecue. Free food and cheap drinks with not a turkey in sight. Today 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The boys next door at Radchada Garden Café told us today they’ve added a few new things to the menu and now look forward to welcoming you all for BREAKFAST. Actually, not just at breakfast time but anytime as it’s available all day. There’s the full English, continental and other options like scrambled egg on toast along with great tasting coffee or tea.

Twelve inch thin crust style pizza is cooked to order in a sizzling hot flame powered Pizza Oven. Pizzas are available with a variety of toppings including the delicious “Radchada Pizza”. For those not so hungry Pizza is also available by the slice.

As well as Coffee and soft drinks a selection of beers and wines are available to accompany your pizza. Good Pizza can be hard to find in Chiang Mai so come and give this a try. Although originally scheduled for 9th November, and much delayed by the flooding around Bangkok, yesterday finally saw the Royalflora Ratchaphruek 2011 expo in Chiang Mai open it’s doors to the public. The Expo, located to the South West of the city in Tambon Mae Hia, covers 80 hectares of landscaped gardens and exhibitions nestling at the foot of the mountains. It provides a lush and refreshing display of colourful plants and flowers and greenery from Thailand and 30 countries.

The events are also very special occasions for the Thai nation and the Thai people as they commemorate the auspicious 84th Birthday of His Majesty the King (the 7th 12-year cycle of life in Asian tradition) and the 80th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. Due to the prominent role played by agriculture in Thai economic, social and cultural life, both Their Majesties have spent their lifetimes for the cause of environmental sustainability, water and nature conservation, poverty alleviation. All their efforts over the years will be highlighted at the Expo.

If you are visiting Chiang Mai between now and 15th February 2012 be sure to fit a day into your schedule to go and visit Royalflora Ratchaphruek 2011. Best to plan it early in the day when the flowers are at their best.

Tonight, Wednesday 14th December, marks the last quiz night at the Garden Bar for 2011. After tonight, the people who won the most during 2011 will compete for this year’s prize as the 2011 Champion (Date for the final run-off competition shall be announced later on).

The quiz is held between team/tables with a maximum of four persons each. It is open to everyone, if you are alone come along anyway and you can join with others to make teams.

The boys next door at Radchada Garden Café have announced that, from today, fresh home made Pizza will be available on the menu.

They are doing a 12 inch thin crust pizza with a variety of toppings cooked to order in a sizzling hot, flame powered, pizza oven. Prices start from only 150 Bt.

Rachada’s resident pizza boy and pizzaiolo extraordinaire is Khun Jeeb. He will be known to many here from Guitar Man where he has made many a fine pizza over the past few years. With a change of ownership at Guitar Man Jeeb has moved on to new things; come try his Pizza at Radchada Garden Café.

Pizza is available Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. Until last orders at 6.30 p.m (2p.m. p.m. on Thursdays). Radchada Garden Café is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is located in the Santitham area of Chang Puek near to many of Chiang Mai’s gay bars.

As well as Coffee and soft drinks a selection of beers and wines are available to accompany your pizza.

For a quick snack, ready made pizza slices are available too, these are one quarter slice of a full pizza reheated in the pizza oven for an authentic taste. Other snacks available include toasted sandwiches, french fries, fresh croissants and muffins.
