Tomorrow 7th March is Makha Bucha Day when Buddhists commemorate the Buddha and his teachings on the full moon day of the third lunar month. It is a major event in the Buddhist calendar and a public holiday in Thailand.
On Makha Bucha day many Thais visit temples to make merit Tam Boon and hoin in other Bhuddhist events. Temples hold a candlelit procession on the evening of the full move in which every one walks three times around the temple building holding lighted candles. Buddhists should Keeping the Five Precepts, including abstinence from alcoholic drinks and all kinds of immoral acts.
The sale of alcohol is prohibited on Makha Bucha day and most bars will be closed. Our friends at Radchada Garden Cafe say they will also be closed tomorrow.
