Sad news this week; Kris, the owner of the former Glass Onion has passed away.
The Glass Onion, which Kris sold two or three years ago, has already been closed for a year or more now. The bar was quite unique for Chiang Mai and at the time a trend setter both in terms of high class lounge style bars in Chiang Mai, and in the future trend for gay bars. Smart, comfortable, air conditioned with sumptuous furnishings, professional staff and Kris holding court with his forthright opinions.
More recently, last year Kris opened another interesting but short lived venue in Nimmanhaeminda soi 1.
Kris was certainly a character and will be sadly missed.

Kris was a style-master for sure, his Glass Onion was what Chiang Mai so desperately needed. It had such a an awesome vibe. He was the perfect host and such a nice guy. Terribly sad. RIP Kris you will be missed by so many.
