14th February, Valentines Day is fast approaching and is set to be an interesting affair in Chiang Mai. 14th February this year falls on the full moon and one of the most important festivals in the Buddhist calendar, Makha Bucha and a public holiday. As with all major Buddha days, Buddhist’s refrain from consuming alcohol. Bars will be shut along with many restaurants. And those that are open will likely not be selling alcohol. So if you were planning that romantic dinner with a bottle of wine, probably buy in advance and brush up on your culinary skills.
However, there are still some gay parties arranged around valentines that our readers might enjoy.
