Issue 49 (May/June 2012) of Thailand’s Gay community Magazine Thai Puan is now available in Gay bars in Chiang Mai.

The boys at Radchada Garden Café have announced that, by popular demand, from 1st May 2012 they will be opening in the evenings as well as daytime. The new opening hours 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A full service bar is available with Happy hour from 5 – 7 p.m. The full food menu will be available in the evenings too (kitchen closes at 9.30 p.m.), they also told us some new additions to the menu will be announced very soon.
Radchada Garden Café is a great place to enjoy a quiet evening drink in a quiet, music free environment. Their food specialty is thin crust Pizza, so this is a great new evening Pizza option for Chiang Mai.

This week saw another opening party in Chiang Mai for yet another Massage parlour cum Spa. SpaTacus Spa for men is situated in the tourist part of town on Loy Kroh Soi 2.

This month saw the grand opening of Mansfield Residence – Boutique City Resort. The party included some great entertainment including traditional dancing, cabaret performances and a fashion parade by some very sexy male models.

With Songkran over and normality returning to Chiang Mai, tonight, 18 April, sees the Garden bar at Lotus Hotel, host its regular monthly quiz night. Fun starts at 8 p.m. sharp with quiz master Steve Yarnold at the helm. Two of the categories for this month are: Lebanon ( country ) & US TV series of the 60′s.
Food is available, as always, at the Garden Bar Restaurant which has a selection of Western, Thai and Lebanese dishes. Bartenders Bo and Wit will be there to welcome you.

Gay News from Dragoncastle If you are wondering why many links and posts on this site relate to Burma and the Shan State the reason is simple. Many friends of Radchada Cafe come from the Shan State in South East Burma which borders Thailand, Laos and China.
Shan State is one of the most oppressed parts of Burma where atrocities committed by the Junta against the Shan people are widespread. As a result, many have fled to Thailand and try to survive here as refugees despite less than welcoming treatment by the Thai authorities. To find out more about the Shan, known as "Tai Yai" in Thai, visit some of the links above.
Probably 90% of the young men you will meet in Chiang Mai's host bars and other similar commercial gay venues come from the Shan State, as well as guys from other hill tribe minorities who are denied Thai citizenship. Although mainly straight, the Shan have had a significant effect on the gay farang scene in Chiang Mai, for this reason we try to inform our readers about the Shan people and their problems.
